- 52 cards, 4 players, 13 cards each. Card strength: A > K > Q > J > 10 > … > 2.
- Auction: starting left of the dealer, everyone bids (3-13) or passes. The highest bidder wins the auction and picks the trump suit.
- The auction winner leads the first trick. Following the led suit is mandatory; if you can beat the highest card, raising is mandatory too.
- If you have no card of the led suit you must play a trump if you hold one; if you can beat the trump on the table, you must overtrump.
- Every 4 cards make a trick; the highest card (or highest trump) wins it and leads the next. After 13 tricks the round is scored.
- If the declarer makes the bid, every trick they took is +1 point; otherwise they lose points equal to the bid. Defenders score their tricks. Highest total wins the match.
